CapitalStream Moves Into Its New Home In Fremont

Company expands Fremont offices and offers subsidies for alternative transportation

Seattle, WA – January 29, 2001
– CapitalStream, an e-commerce provider of hosted services and applications for the commercial finance industry, has moved into the Evanston Building, part of a new 54,000 square foot business complex in Fremont. This new space allows the company to reunite after 9 months in two separate offices in Queen Anne and Fremont.

Based in Fremont since 1996, CapitalStream has had several offices on the canal in the neighborhood know as “The Center of the Universe.” In March 2000, as a response to explosive growth, the company moved half of its employees into temporary office space in Queen Anne to wait for the completion of its new home in January 2001.

After the move, CapitalStream immediately began to increase subsidies to encourage employees to consider alternative commuting options. Employees are offered discounts for on-site parking if they carpool with another person. If three or more employees carpool, parking is free.

Employees who are busing receive a free bus pass while walkers and bikers obtain a $50.00 subsidy in their paycheck each month. In addition, bikers have a secured space in the parking garage where they can lock up their bikes, and showers on site to get ready for work.

“We care about our employees, the community of Fremont and the environment,” said Steve Campbell, president and CEO of CapitalStream. “Our challenge was to make alternative commuting options attractive and convenient, and so far, the feedback we have gotten from our employees is very positive.”

In addition to these subsidies, CapitalStream is looking into other modes of transportation and logistics to alleviate traffic. One interesting new concept is “Flexcar.” This would allow the company to provide a car that could be used by employees for doctor’s appointments and other important meetings that may arise for those workers carpooling, biking or walking. CapitalStream is also working with other companies in Fremont to see if King County can look into ways to improve the busing service to the general Fremont area.
